Habitat for Humanity of Wood County was organized in 1991 as a chapter of the Maumee Valley affiliate. This affiliate served Habitat’s mission in three counties, including Lucas, Wood and Fulton. In 1993, the Wood County chapter built its first three houses in Bloomdale, Ohio, under the direction of Ms. Maxine Miller. While the chapter continued to build homes at a rate of 2-4 homes per year, it was in April 2000 when the affiliate became incorporated as an independent affiliate to serve Wood County.
Habitat is governed by a Board of Directors along with a committee structure consisting of Build, Family Selection, Family Support, and Resource Development. Volunteers support the work that we do. Our staff includes a full time Executive Director, Volunteer Coordinator, and part time Homeowner Services Coordinator and Bookkeeper.
