Father’s Day is a reminder of the steady, often quiet work of fatherhood—providing stability, safety, and opportunity for a family’s future. For many dads in Wood County, that stability starts with something simple but essential: a safe, affordable home. When housing costs are manageable, fathers can focus less on surviving month-to-month and more on building routines, supporting schoolwork, sharing meals, and creating memories that last. Affordable housing is not just about shelter—it is about giving parents the foundation they need to show up fully for their children.

The impact of that foundation is best understood in the words of those living it every day. One Habitat homeowner shared, “As a father, it gives me a peace of mind knowing that our family will have a safe place to call home. The big thing is feeling accomplished--that we reached our goal in owning our own home. Our kids will be able to celebrate birthdays, graduations, and holidays and not feel embarrassed because of where we are living.” |

Progress continues across Wood County as affordable homeownership opportunities expand. The Bradner home will be completed in July, marking another milestone for a local family stepping into homeownership. In North Baltimore, the rehabilitation project is steadily moving forward, bringing new hope to its future homeowners. Meanwhile, the groundbreaking for the second Bradner home is just around the corner, signaling that the momentum is not slowing down. Each project represents families moving closer to stability, security, and a place to truly call home.
